6 months

I forgot last night to mention Hudson turned 6 months yesterday!!! It was a beautiful December day in the high 50's. He gave me a gift he slept through the entire night without a feeding! He woke up at 7 sharp cooing, when I got out of bed to get him he was laying on his tummy facing us (we have one LOONNG bedroom) and started to make excited noises, it was so cute!! He really is the best! We try to keep him on his schedule but when we stray he is still the happiest little guy.

He's still only around 19 pounds hehe which is about the size of a 9 month old and he is completely proportionate, head, weight and length. He is fun to do just about anything with! He made a great travel buddy to Glenwood Springs, I only had to sit in back with him once and sing Christmas songs till he dozed off. He laughs and smiles all the time, sometimes I wonder if it's too much, like wonder if he has angelman syndrome or something, but he is doing phenomenal on his development. He babbles and he can move around on the floor about 3 feet with rolling and scooting etc. He just went down for a nap and is even giggling in his sleep. When he laughs really hard he makes the best noise I'll have to post it.

He is really easy going, he will start to choke on his saliva or hand and then smile, while I am freaking out. His favorite toys are his mini football and all his development toys like the exersaucer and stuff I don't know the name of. My mom handed down a big Tonka jeep to us at Christmas and he loves that, I thought he would be too young for it, but he reached for it and moves it just a little bit, I also found him abandoning all his other toys the other day and trying with all his might to army crawl about 5 ft to it, he made it about 3 and then I distracted him. Sometimes I will turn my back and he is laying in a completely different spot and direction when I turn back around a minute later, I really wish I could see how he does this! He does really well with other little ones, he loves watching the older ones and learning from them, he always pulls out new tricks when he has spent time with older kids, he also loves holding other little ones hands and we thought it was so sweet but now we realize he is always trying to put their hands in his mouth, still makes for good photo opps.

Hudson has taken to solids like a pro, he loves his rice cereal and his green vegis, he would always make this face like this is disgusting but then gobble them down, I started with peas because he chowed down on some of my split pea soup a couple months back, peas do seem to be his favorite. He likes his fruit too, he doesn't make the this is disgusting face but doesn't seem to enjoy them quite as much as his vegis, I would say he loved peas and squash, and has been all right with apples and green beans. Today is carrots! I got lazy and started mixing his rice cereal with formula instead of breastmilk because it's only a couple tablespoons but he has started getting gassy and spitting up a lot (which he had only done 4 times before ever) so I am going to go back, there is cow's milk in that stuff, which I think is wild, I can't drink milk so I'm not going to make him.

Hudson has made me a better person, I really love his joyful spirit, now I really have to think to get mad or frustrated, he has taught me to just be happy and chill, and I love having that joyful feeling in our home at all times. With this whole moving to Glenwood process I've rarely worried or stressed out, which is pretty miraculous for me, although when people ask me when I'm leaving I am a little short-fused I still don't know but sometime in the next 7 days as TJ start work the 9th out there. We are just waiting for our new landlord to give us a date. Our rent is up here on the 5th I think I need to check on that. Well back to packing, I just had to spill out all my love for this little guy!

My life in boxes!

So it's official we are moving to Glenwood Springs, CO. We found out yesterday, today we got qualified for the condo we will be living in, and I basically pack, take care of Hudson, eat, wash dishes repeat, plus I try to get out of the house a little each day.
Here are some highlights of our life as of late.
I always forget blogger loads pics backwards so it goes most recent to oldest. Starting with Hudson's vintage find from DI, he wore it to the Adult Connolly Christmas Party. Next up we have, the morning after Christmas lovin' with Dad. Then you will see Hudson was really only interested in his cousin Vince's toy and the wrapping paper, his presents seemed to bore him as caught in one of the pics. On Christmas Eve, which also happens to be my due date, like when I was supposed to be born, clearly not Hudson's, we celebrated my birthday with my family. Hudson also majorly scored at the Connolly Cousin Party, he got to meet another Santa, one that looked strangely like his dad's cousin, he also got this cute stuffed Woody doll, I keep trying to convince him he likes him, he has managed to poke his eyes, suck his nose and bang him into the bars of his crib.

One day I will find you!

Once upon a time in the summer of 2009 I tried to register for an online biochemistry class, due to already having a degree I couldn't register right away, but it was the last class I needed for my prerequisites for the masters program I hoped to apply for. . The class was full and I kindly emailed the professor to be added, he replied back no, I persisted on for about 3 more emails to no avail. I remember feeling pretty negative feelings towards the guy actually. The professor was located in Glenwood Springs, CO. Fast forward 2 1/2 years, TJ says he is taking a job out there. I say "I'm going to find that teacher!". About 2 months after that we are in Glenwood Springs, attending church, a man comes up to us and kindly invites us over for dinner. We chat and chat, I find he is a professor, a science professor, an online biochem professor, for the U, I grab TJ and introduce him, we all have a good laugh and he apologizes and explains he was paid by class not student and it was overbooked etc. We enjoyed lunch and a tour of their neighborhood which they tried to sell us on. They are a great family and he reminds us of TJs older brother. He found me haha!

A day in the life of Hudson and Mommy(me)

6:20 I hear Hudson, maybe he'll go back to bed, nope
6:40 feed Hudson
7 go for a run while TJ gets ready for work
7:30 eat breakfast and feed Hudson rice cereal
8 Hudson takes a nap, I make baklava and cookies
11 I know I'm lucky Hudson wakes up we party like there is no tomorrow, read, eat, roll on the floor, etc, while Hudson feels the need to always be with me, I placed him in his bouncer, he rolls over in his bouncer, that's a new one
1pm nap, I try to fix a flat tire on his stroller
2pm Hudson rolls around to get toys back to front, front to back, toys are boring, he eyes the fishing poles and rolls around then his all consumingness of the fishing poll starts to frustrate him, feed him some pees, he loves the Earths Best peas, spits out the Gerber peas, I smell them, they do smell different
4pm nap while I try to catch up on the mess of a home we've created throughout the day
5 wake up run to mom connollys, stub my toe, nope pretty sure I broke my toe
6pm head home, TJ is home, pop Hudson in the bath
7pm should be Hudson's bedtime but he is wide awake smiling and laughing,

I ask TJ "does every baby do this?" put Hudson on the floor put toy in front of him out of reach, he holds his chest and hands up off floor really high and swims with back legs then some how gets to the lion, I'm not really sure how he does it, it's like swimming on the carpet, TJ " I don't know" we marvel over his strength, then as if to show off he gets on his hands on his knees "woa" I say "that's a new one" we marvel some more
finally he seems a little tired I put him down to sleep, he gets a little mad flips over and goes to sleep
7:40 I run to a friends baby shower
9:30 I jam out to Pear Jam singing with all the passion of my 13 year old self that used to LOVE that song
10pm pull in, oh yes I am a mom and wife, weird
10:30 pm take care of responsible grown up stuff
11pm blog/bed!
pictures of this amazing day to follow!

Mom or Dad? You be the judge!

Recently TJ's parents dropped off all his old pictures and such. There were yearbooks with entries like, Hi handsome give me a call followed by digits, from girls I know, and I had a crush on you last year so lets get together followed by more digits. It's true Hudson
gets the lady-killerness from his dad. We also found some even younger baby pictures of TJ than I had previously seen.
The first two are of TJ, the next two are of Hudson (well one of Hudson and TJ) and the next two are of me, I'm the one in the purple bathing suit.

So who do you think Hudson looks like?

Solids!!!!!

Hudson is truly 5 months today! I guess it goes by their actual birthday versus how many weeks he is. For his 5 month birthday we had solids and went to the Zoo.
He had his 4 month appointment yesterday at 4months and 30 days he weighed in at
18 lbs 9 oz
and measured 27" long. He averages about the 90% or about the size of an 8 or 9 month old.
He becomes more and more aware everyday as well as he is becoming more and more dexterous (he actually grabbed his spoon with both his hands to try and feed himself, he will also pick up his jingle toys and jingle them to entertain himself). He has an awesome sense of humor and already is finding ways to make us laugh such as the pacifier spitting and growling. He is so fun to be with and I often find myself realizing that he is growing up so fast. I fear if I too many chores while he is awake he will grow up before I'm done. So the laundry piles unfolded and the dishes unwashed in the sink, but we have fun, and all those things stay there till he takes a nap or goes to sleep at which time I tackle them because I am a neat freak!

Sadly my phone died right after I took a picture of this tortoise he is about 4 feet long amazing!!! Hudson watched him walk around. He also really noticed some monkeys, the giraffes, some smaller swimming turtles, and felines. Basically if they moved Hudson was interested.

Hudson ate his first solids today of rice cereal. We started with some white rice someone had gave us, it smelled kind of gross to me and had previously been opened. So I accidentally happened upon the organic baby food isle. My nutrition-loving self found baby brown rice cereal and whipped some up for him. It smelled good and nutritious. I also did some research when I got home and basically white rice is fortified sugar or as one researcher went so far to say, fortified soda-pop. We will be sticking with the brown rice for now. The same researcher believes white rice leads to childhood obesity.

The Wise Man

Here is the Wise Man, he was hoping to be baby Jesus in the ward nativity, as you can see, but his friend Cora played the role a little better.

Thanksgiving Fun with Family

He learned to keep his binky in his mouth but now spits it out to make us laugh.
Here are a couple videos, I had one continuous one but I think I deleted it on accident :-(

This thanksgiving as is Connolly tradition we had a talent show, my personal favorite acts included U2's Where the Streets Have No Name, by Sam, make sure you check out Ben's dance moves down in front and Hudson's cameo performance in Levitating Baby

Prior to the holiday Hudson's bedtime was 7pm sharp after all of this he started going to bed around 9pm. Here he is around 9pm after having too much fun:

Here are some cousin classics:

5 months

This is my baby isn't he cute!!?? He turned 5 months today I can't believe it. He is the sweetest, happiest, funniest little man! He's weighing in at 19 pounds, today I upgraded to size 4 diapers, hope it works!! He sometimes reminds me of a little lion cub, he paws at things and scratches the couches and even makes a rower sound. Granted he also reminds me of a little man in so many ways. Am I not the luckiest to be able to hang out with him all day everyday?

I think I might be obsessed or in love probably both!
